About Jordan Donegan

Jordan Donegan is a multimedia journalist entering her third year at Fordham University, majoring in journalism and political science with a minor in French, where she has been an instrumental force in championing the relaunch of Fordham’s student television station. She also works as an on-field reporter for the New York Post, covering both breaking news and ongoing reporting.

Jordan has extensive experience covering New York City and Fordham campus news through television, radio, and print reporting. She began her journalism career as a staff news writer and copy editor for her university’s official journalism book of record, The Fordham Ram, where she later served as the assistant news editor. Shortly thereafter, she held two part-time reporting internships in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, where she regularly contributed her original articles to both print and digital publications. Soon after returning to New York City, she began working as a news reporter for WFUV News, the NPR affiliate station for the Bronx, transforming her print reporting skills into audio journalism.

Despite Fordham’s countless print and audio journalism opportunities for its emerging reporters, Jordan felt that her university lacked an outlet for students aspiring to pursue careers in broadcast journalism to develop their skills. This propelled her to collaborate with a peer to relaunch Fordham’s student television station from the grassroots, where she now serves as the senior reporter and has worked endlessly to produce content and grow the station’s membership. In its new and revived state, we have already gained a significant social media presence through the engaging packages produced by our growing team.

Jordan is now proud to be a field reporter for the New York Post, where she is known for her tenacity, grit, and determination to deliver her best work on every story she takes on. She is especially drawn to the exhilaration of breaking news reporting and the “thrill” that the fast-paced news coverage gives her. Some of Jordan’s most notable skills are her ability to connect with interviewees on a deep level, her strong on-camera presence, her keen interest in both print and broadcast writing, her use of Excel for data journalism projects, and her familiarity with Adobe platforms.

Jordan looks forward to continuing to grow her skills as a journalist and sharing her deep passion for reporting with the world. She is especially interested in covering U.S. political and legal affairs, whether local, national, or international, and their intersection with the everyday lives of world citizens. She also hopes to one day spend time abroad in francophone countries, covering political and governmental affairs.

Hi, I’m Jordan Donegan! I am a multimedia journalist with a comprehensive background in print, audio, and video journalism, currently serving as a field reporter for The New York Post and as the Senior Reporter for Fordham TV.

I came to New York City to pursue my dream of becoming a journalist dedicated to producing compelling, informative, and high-quality content, and my persistent and ambitious nature has landed me numerous reporting opportunities during my time here. I regularly take on challenging, complex stories that mandate real boots-on-the-ground reporting and sharp interviewing skills. When a story comes my way, I will go through every method to get the information needed, even if it seems impossible at first glance, which has defined the majority of my journalism career.

Although I have a profound passion for all forms of journalism, my ultimate career interest lies in broadcast journalism, and I hope to one day serve as a reporter covering American and international governmental and legal affairs. At my university, I have held vital leadership roles within multiple student-run journalism organizations, and I constantly strive to improve my skills as an emerging reporter.

Experience

New York Post, Field Reporter

May. 2026- Present

  • Travel across New York City to report on breaking news and developing stories, gathering information and details, and feeding them to editors for publication.
  • Cover stories through door-knocking or man-on-the-street interviews with families of crime victims, eyewitnesses, and other sources; regularly communicate with editors on major story updates.
  • Work directly on-site with editors when needed; assist with in-house information gathering and conduct phone interviews with city agency officials.

Dec. 2025- Present

  • Co-lead the relaunch of University’s student television program six years post-shutdown. 
  • Draft and construct all newsroom organization; frame club governance and editorial standards, negotiate studio and equipment access.
  • Dedicate 12+ hours/week to recording, filming, and producing packages; recruit and train new reporters. 

Dec. 2025- Present

  • Pitch weekly story ideas to newsroom editors and report on news pieces for a fast-paced NPR affiliate news station. 
  • Hold man-on-the-street interviews to gather on-scene audio clips of public perspectives for broadcasting. 
  • Write concise and engaging audio scripts; record narration to produce high-quality audio segments.
  • Edit audio in Pro Tools to create broadcast-ready soundbites and clips on a tight deadline. 

Dec. 2025- Present

  • Oversee weekly news production; pitch stories, guide writers, assign sources, and edit and fact-check all content. 
  • Write 2-3 news articles/week; report and produce dynamic stories covering campus and New York City. 
  • Conduct interviews with university leadership, faculty, and students to provide accurate reporting; collaborate with editors on fact-checking, story development, and deadlines. 
  • Copy edit news, culture, opinion, and sports articles; ensure accuracy and compliance with AP Style guidelines. 

Oct. 2025- Present

  • Reported, pitched, and produced news stories; conducted on-site, Zoom, and phone interviews with first responders, police officers, and firefighters; collaborated with editors to produce accurate and engaging content.
  • Searched public records and government data to assist with investigative reporting; produced 8-10 breaking news stories per week, regularly engaged with community members to compile public viewpoints

  • Researched local community needs and national events to pitch story ideas; reported on culture and news stories covering communities in North Portland; contributed original writing to print and digital publications.
